Israel’s 60th Birthday

Israel at Sixty: Will the Beatles celebrate the ethnic cleansing of Palestine? by Dave

In 1965 Israel was scared the Beatles would corrupt the country, in 2008 will the country corrupt the Beatles?

Ron Prosor is looking to improve Israels brand by association: inviting leading celebrities and organisations in the UK to “Israel’s 60th birthday” party.

The latest victim of his PR war is the most popular band in the world – the Beatles. He has invited them to Israel to celebrate the anniversary of 1948 a year when Palestinians were ethnically cleansed from their lands. Palestinians mourn this time as the Nakba or catastrophe.

The Beatles should take a look at the reasons behind Israel’s PR war. After July 2006 when Israel murdered over 1,000 innocent Lebanese civilians the countries PR gurus met to try to understand why they’d lost the propaganda (hasbara) battle.

They concluded that its difficult to counter images of innocent murdered civilians and that Israel’s PR image must be improved as “you need to shoot a picture before you shoot them.” Dr Ra’anan Gissin

This is the level and point of this media onslaught in the UK they wish to change the “Worlds worst brand“, to improve the image of a country dripping with the blood of innocents.

To be a part of this PR effort is to help cover past and ongoing crimes.

Lets hope the Beatles haven’t forgotten the revolutionary peace loving spirit of the Sixties which they embodied, singing “when you talk about destruction, don’t you know that you can count me out.” If they haven’t forgotten they will turn down the offer to help a military power, which regects peace, celebrate its past ethnic cleansing exploits.

Stop celebrating the ethnic cleansing of Palestine and give peace a chance.

JOHN LENNON lyrics – Imagine

Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today…

Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world…

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one

Let’s hope that the two remaining Beatles refuse the invitation – perhaps ig enough people write to them to protest and also write to their local newspapers to protest. It would be utterly shameful to take part in a party to commemorate an event which caused the biggest forced migration in modern history – the expulsion of 700,000 Palestinians from their own land and the current imprisonment of Palestinians in the 4 Cantons of an ugly Israeli Apartheid State.

I’ve not heard anything but don’t think these invitations are realistic.

He knows they wont come he just wants to create a good PR story in the media associating Israel with positive big names.

E.g. he invited the queen even though prince charles has refused to go saying that he didnt want israel to use a visit as a pr stunt. If he wont go the queen certainly wont. Makes a nice little story to ask though…. They wont reply because they dont wan to be openly critical of israel – most people wont realise that though.

heres a good example.

In a recent post I included an action alert that might be of interest.
